It was mine and Cody's 3rd night on a 5 day Wyoming whitetail hunt with Trophies Plus Outfitters. The first two night we seen a ton of deer but they stayed about 120yrs out in a big hayfield. After a quick talk with our guide Jim we decided to get aggressive.  We went in and moved the Rhino blind and three hay bails to within shooting distance of where the deer were the first two nights.  We sprayed down with Dead Down Wind and settled in for the nights hunt. Once again the deer piled off the hill to the field, does, fawns, and small bucks first then finally some of the shooters started showing up. It took the bucks over an hour to close from 120yds to 80yds, but the longer the deer feed the more comfortable the where with our new ambush in the middle of the field. Finally the bucks broke and started heading to the middle off the field like the first two nights 80yds, 75yds, 63yds they were coming fast now and I knew I was going to get a shot soon. As they closed the final yards I ranged a clump of grass ( 45yds ) the lead buck stopped right at the spot I ranged. I drew The Strother SX-1 leveled the bubble on my Hogg it and held my 45yrd pin on the bucks vitals waiting for Cody to give me the OK. After what seemed like minutes ( really only seconds ) I got the word and touched of my Hardcore release. The Switchblade tipped Victory VAP arrow flew true and the deer piled up less than 120yds away barely making it out of the field.  The wind switched on us all night but thanks to complete scent elimination from DDW and being hidden in the Rhino blind we went undetected for over 3 hours with deer 360 degrees around us.  Thanks again to Mike Watkins at Trophies Plus Outfitters and all the sponsors for making such superior gear, because of these people and gear I was able to take my first P&Y class whitetail in the great state of Wyoming and I can't wait till next year’s trip. We ended this trip like we started it drinking some Strut & Rut. It’s Open Season once again.
